AUTHORITIESThe Vice President will be responsible for a diversified portfolio of clients and structured products as it relates to the Capital Markets - Trading Products activities of the Enterprise. This entails account management responsibility, as well as the ongoing independent monitoring of client portfolios and their performance in a proactive manner. In addition, as part of an ongoing team approach, the Vice President will work closely with Trading Products to best serve and manage our existing client relationships as well as grow the portfolio. The Vice President will prepare and review credit packages to make recommendations regarding risk, deal structure, and client requirements by analyzing financial and operating data for trends in financial performance of asset types (e.g. Asset Backed Securities, pre-refunded bonds, Mortgage Backed Securities), companies, and industries.. Credit Risk and Financial Analysis 40%. Client Portfolio Management 35%. Partnership Efforts 25%. Accountabilities Defined. A. Client Risk and Financial Analysis. Prepare concise, accurate and well-reasoned written credit applications and memoranda for both new and existing transactions, for presentation to Credit.. Maintain current financial information on clients in order to perform timely annual reviews and trigger monitoring.. Conduct credit risk analysis of transactions using all available sources of information including, but not limited to financial statements, industry reports, legal documentation, etc.. Analyze transactions for structural strengths and weaknesses and structure appropriately to mitigate weaknesses.. Review legal documentation for conformity with approved Credit terms and conditions.. Ensure approvals and documentation is completed in accordance with BMO's policies and procedures.. Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory developments.. B. Client Portfolio Management. Manage a diverse portfolio of Trading Product accounts. This includes: i) preparing written concise credit reviews as needed, at least annually, delivering same within required timeframes, and ii) continuous monitoring of transaction performance and financial performance of the underlying client and its respective industry.. Monitor client, industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect the portfolio and business needs.. Monitor exposure across different BMO entities and products.. Expert knowledge of Bank policies and standards to ensure portfolio adheres to BMO's policies and procedures.. Assist in AML/KYC processing and obtain any pending required documentation. C. Partnership Efforts. Liaise with Trading Products areas, various lines of business, and operational areas of the Bank as required.. Support trading desks on portfolio management needs and growth initiatives of the business.. Assist in updating Financing Guidelines.. Involvement in projects as required.. Coach and mentor individuals in the Analyst / Associate role.. To deliver on these accountabilities, the incumbent must have the following authorities :. Access to client information.. An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting.. 6-10 years of corporate banking experience in a corporate lending environment; formal credit training preferred.. Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations.. Credit analysis experience and understanding.. Good knowledge of organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives. B. Skills. Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.. Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding internal environment and in client interaction.. Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics, financial and credit analysis.. Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.. Self-starter with keen attention to detail and ability to work under limited supervision.. Ability to learn and adapt quickly.. Ability to be creative, insightful, and resourceful in performance of duties.. Strong ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information on multiple projects in an organized manner..
