Position Summary

Offer product testing and problem resolution, as applicable for any client issues identified, highlighted or questioned with the aim of enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations.

Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Understand and interpret standards for appropriate test methods
  • Reviews PIF requirements prior to testing in order to assure adherence to client requirements
  • Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality / safety issues
  • Prepare and evaluate a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods following testing standards / specifications. (As applicable per lab practices)
  • Conducts testing or analyzes a variety of consumer products samples for basic bench analysis and limited analytical instrumentation using prescribed testing methods following testing standards / specifications appropriate to the sample
  • Conduct testing on Food products including, but not limited to, perceptual qualities, grading to USDA Standards, percent solids/moisture, pH, viscosity, dimensions and weight, and titrations (HBHF)
  • Accurately record test data
  • Assist with department testing in other areas
  • Prepares and reviews written technical reports, as applicable
  • Perform final review and interpret data / reports as required. (As applicable per lab practices)
  • Prepares verbal and written communication internal and external clients, regarding administrative and technical issues, with direction
  • Provides technical consultation to internal and external clients in a limited scope with direction from senior staff
  • Interface with staff members internally and at other locations on interpretations and to ensure global consistency with direction from senior staff
  • Research and development of new testing services / methods, in a limited capacity with direction from senior staff
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain testing equipment, maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and instrumentation
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Method development skills Strong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting Possess and demonstrate knowledge of food science, chemistry, laboratory procedures and equipment with emphasis on Food chemistry. Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to interpret FDA and other applicable regulations/standards. Ability to critically evaluate data Organizational and time management skills Ability to perform multiple tasks Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines Individual and Team work ethic ability to mentor Proficiency with MS Office Technical problem solving and process improvement skills and attention to detail Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable regulations, standards, and protocols Knowledge of statistical analysis tools a plus
  • Experience and Educational Background Required for the Job

    Analyst I:

  • 4 year Science or related degree with 0-1 years related technical experience; or
  • 2 year related degree and 2 years related technical experience
