National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst for our Finance Technology Enablement department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Enablement Technology, Front Office Integration Support, this position is responsible for coordinating and carrying out the activities and processes required to ensure optimal system Quality and Performance for business users of the USFP solution. The Analyst/Senior Analyst will develop and maintain process and system solutions with a focus on supporting our Operations functions by working closely with our clients and IS partners.

Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Work collaboratively with Finance, IS, Operations and other business clients, to develop, test and implement creative solutions related to SAP, STORMS, PowerPlant and Maximo and their integration.

  • Respond effectively and efficiently to business requests for investigation of potential system issues and system change requests.

  • Document those requests clearly in terms that both the business and IS can understand and shepherd issues and changes through to resolution.

  • Develop extensive understanding of BPS and IS end-to-end processes necessary to test and migrate system changes.

  • Participate in achieving goals and metrics of Shared Services, BPS Front Office Integration team.

  • Proactively support a collaborative team working environment and focus on the design of new and improved processes, in order to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance within the Shared Services, BPS Front Office Integration team.

  • Keep up to date with Work Management/Scheduling/Dispatch systems integration and developments in the industry, in order to ensure the optimization of best practices for National Grid.

  • Analyze data trends as needed to identify issues or areas for improvement.

  • Occasional Travel to other NG locations may be required.

  • Occasional off hours support during Project, Release implementations or high severity system availability issues.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 3+ years of related experience. Advanced degree/credits is preferred.

  • Ability to gain knowledge, experience and proficiency in National Grid's business operations, company policies, procedures and IS standards.

  • Ability to gain experience in National Grid WO Operations Field Operations.

  • Significant STORMS application System knowledge, working knowledge of other National Grid Work Management Systems in the application portfolio and knowledge of work request interfaces.

  • Knowledge and experience with PowerPlant Work Order processing.

  • Knowledge of field operations scheduling and planning functions.

  • Working knowledge and experience with SAP for business functional areas OR previous experience in an IS support role for functional areas in either an Application Development (AD), Application Maintenance (AM), Project Management, or business consultant/BRM role.

  • Experience in an application support role with the business as part of a business support team, part of a functional team or as IS business support OR a subject matter expert (SME) in a business functional area.

  • Extensive business knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the current USFP solution and how it can support and enhance the current business process.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or utility regulation.

  • Proficient in relevant productivity software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle) and PL/SQL.
