The Senior Finance Manager provides operational and financial management for the Global IT & Digital Finance team. There are two primary accountability areas for this role: Financial Planning & Analysis ownership for Global IT & Digital as well as business partnership with the Pharma Services Group (PSG) VP of IT. This is a unique role that combines both business unit/divisional finance as well as corporate finance. The candidate is expected to become an integral member of the Global IT and Digital Finance team and need to create tight partnerships with the divisional & group FP&A teams. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to demonstrate their ability to add significant value to Thermo Fisher Scientific. This preferred location for this position is Waltham.

What will you do?

Our Finance team contributes ideas that fuel our performance and advance company-wide strategy. Finance is directly linked to the health of Thermo Fisher Scientific, and our work allows our business and functional leaders to make the educated, sound decisions that drive our mission and make us a stable, trusted organization. As the Sr. Manager FP&A, you will lead a team of 2 to provide analytical support by:

  • Driving AOP, Forecast, STRAP, QBR and other key reporting processes.

  • Partnering with the VP of PSG IT, Sr. Director of FP&A PSG and the PSG IT Leadership Team to deliver on their AOP commitments and value to the Group.

  • Developing and coaching a high performing team and managing daily operations

  • Developing analytics, insights to assist in making impactful business decisions.

  • Collaborating in a highly matrixed environment with the Group/Divisional Finance Teams as well as IT Shared Service Finance Directors to improve our FP&A processes.

  • Being a mentor and thought leader to execute effectively on our Hyperion Planning strategy

  • Assisting in enhancement of standard financial monthly, periodic and quarterly reporting across the company

  • Leading the visioning & development of reporting to provide your business partners and the Global IT & Digital Leadership Team (ITLT) with improved insights

  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including business partners, commercial teams, finance and IT to successfully complete projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Operations, Management or other relevant background

  • Advanced Qualification Preferred is a plus (CPA, MBA, or MS)

  • 8+ yrs of progressively responsible business experience

  • 3 years direct/indirect management experience

  • 2 years FP&A experience

  • Intuition to identify and implement process improvements

  • Strong understanding of financial statements and financial system structures

  • Demonstrated track record of developing high performing teams

  • Systems experience: Hyperion Suite, Microsoft Suite

  • Experience in financial reporting, internal control, forecasting, analysis, and accounting knowledge through professional and/or educational background.

  • The ability to identify trends and develop well defined analysis and presentations.

  • Proven leadership qualities and the ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams as well as the ability to build organizational relationships with peers.

  • Ability to identify and champion productivity improvements through Practical Process Improvement (PPI).
